Working alongside people and society, we guide stainless steel toward expressions of beauty.
Abel specializes in stainless-steel surface treatments. At the heart of our work is Abel Black® — a deep-black technology developed for stainless steel. We partner with designers and engineers in fields from architecture to automotive to expand the possibilities of fabrication
We are a team of specialists dedicated to expanding what stainless steel can do

Abel’s origins trace back to 1965, when its predecessor, Kinki Yakuhin Kogyo, began working with stainless-steel surface treatments. Responding to the needs of the time, the company developed its expertise in electropolishing — a method that refines the surface using chemical solutions. In 1993, the company was renamed Abel Co., Ltd. Then in 2008, we introduced Abel Black®, a mirror-finish black stainless steel that embodies our commitment to precision manufacturing and expanded what stainless steel can express.
The name “Abel” was chosen by Chairman Hideki Iso. It reflects our philosophy of pursuing what is both Ace (exceptional) and Belle (beautiful). For us, beauty is the result of technical mastery and material understanding — not something added, but something drawn out.
We believe: “Beauty is not applied, but revealed.” “Beauty emerges through honest work.” “Beauty is created in partnership with people and society.” Guided by these values, we continue to work closely with designers and engineers — tackling projects that can only be realized through the materials and technologies we offer.

Essential beauty born from technical pursuit

At Abel, our approach to beauty is rooted in our name itself — a name that reflects our founding principle: to pursue the highest (Ace) level of beauty (Belle) through engineering (Engineer). We don’t see beauty as surface decoration. Instead, we pursue a deeper, essential beauty that emerges through technical mastery and respect for material — a philosophy captured in our core belief: “To seek the highest beauty through world-class craftsmanship.”
Beauty Is Not Applied, but Drawn Out
Nothing embodies this philosophy more clearly than our proprietary black stainless-steel technology, Abel Black®.
Where conventional methods like painting or plating add color on top of the material, Abel Black® brings out a deep black tone from within the stainless steel itself. By precisely growing the oxide layer on the surface and controlling light interference, we achieve a black finish that enhances — rather than hides — the metal’s inherent texture and character. This approach reflects our respect for the material. We work to reveal its inner potential, expressing its depth and richness without compromising its integrity.
Beauty Emerges Through Honest Work
Our sense of beauty extends beyond the final product. Guided by our founding principle — “Integrity and cooperation above all” — we believe beauty is also found in how we work: Respecting ideas and time. Committing to ongoing research and careful craftsmanship.Creating a balanced, harmonious workflow. And above all, approaching our work with sincerity, passion, and optimism. It’s this accumulation of thoughtful, honest effort that gives our products their quiet dignity — a beauty that can’t be explained in words alone.
Beauty Is Created Together — With People and Society
Our goal isn’t just to make beautiful products. Our purpose is to create beauty at the highest level, in collaboration with people and society. We see ourselves as partners to designers, architects, and engineers around the world — professionals with sharp eyes and bold ideas. When our advanced materials and techniques meet their creative visions, something entirely new becomes possible. From architecture and design to cutting-edge industrial applications, we work hand-in-hand with our partners to bring projects to life — not only contributing to society, but sharing in the act of creation itself.
For Abel, the pursuit of beauty is the pursuit of stainless steel. It’s the pursuit of technology. And above all, it’s a conversation — between people, between materials, and with the world around us. Through honest craftsmanship, we’ll continue shaping the highest forms of beauty the times demand.
